Neko Case to Release New Solo Album, Tour
Catherine Lewis reports: Although Case hails from Alexandria, Virginia, she spent several years studying art in Vancouver, where she joined the band Maow before starting her own solo project. She has released two albums as Neko Case and Her Boyfriends: The Virginian in 1997 and Furnace Room Lullaby in early 2000, as well as a tour EP of covers and originals entitled Canadian Amp. After spending almost all of February on the road with the New Pornographers, Neko Case will gather up several of her boyfriends to hit the road with Nick Cave, a tour that was rescheduled from last autumn. Folks who can't wait for Neko's solo record to come out can pick up Carolyn Mark's Tribute to the Soundtrack of Robert Altman's Nashville, which is to be released on Mint Records on February 5th. Neko Case performs "Rolling Stone" solo and "Oh These Troubled Times" as a member of the Corn Sisters (with Carolyn Mark). Other contributors to this compilation include Kelly Hogan, Dave Lang, members of the Sadies and the New Pornographers, and several others. Here come the tour dates:
