Charlatans Explore the Other Side on New Comp
Catherine Lewis reports: The Charlatans have a number of shows and festival appearances scheduled for the upcoming months. They're confirmed for the Coachella Festival outside Palm Springs, California on April 27th, where they'll rub shoulders with the Strokes, Björk, and Belle and Sebastian. Back in the UK, they'll be headlining the Isle of Wight festival with David Bowie on June 3rd and the Glastonbury festival on June 28th. They've also scheduled two shows with Oasis in July, with support from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The band also walked away with two NME awards this week: the Evening Session of the Year Award (voted by Radio 1 listeners) and the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award. Songs from the Other Side tames the Charlatans' prodigious catalog of EPs and b-sides by including rare singles-only material such as "Happen to Die" and "Occupation H. Monster" from the band's extremely popular string of Manchester-sound singles in the early 90s, on through the Britpop explosion of the Charlatans' 1995 self-titled effort and 1997's Tellin' Stories (thus, the remixes). Tracklist:
01 Imperial 109 And let's summarize those tour dates:
