Jessica Bailiff Touring with Drekka, Rivulets
Catherine Lewis reports: Toledo, Ohio's Jessica Bailiff has three records out on Kranky; her most recent, self-titled album was released on October 21st. Her first two albums were recorded and produced with Alan Sparhawk of Low; this third album continues her dreamy experimental sound, with morefocused songwriting and more mature song arrangements. This album is, according to Bailiff, about "stagefright, dreams, loss of creative energy/desire, love and time, living in the same place all your life, ghosts, [and] near-death experiences." With all that, one might wonder what ground she's got left to cover in her next record. Tracklist:
01 Swallowed Bloomington, Indiana's Drekka is the solo project of BlueSanct owner/ Turn Pale vocalist Michael Anderson. Drekka's debut full-length Take Care to Fall was released on BlueSanct this spring and features an equal diet of lo-fi indie rock and noise. The thirteen songs are reminiscent of early Sebadoh; Anderson's sound is based on his shimmering guitar sounds over programmed background tracks and looped effects. Minneapolis, Minnesota's Rivulets have released a full-length album on Chairkickers Music and EPs on BlueSanct and Silber; Rivulets' next full-length is due in early 2003 on Chairkickers. For the entirety of this tour, Rivulets will play a solo set as well as backing up Jessica Bailiff with bass and background vocals. There will also be a seven-inch tour-only EP, released by HONEYSPIDERTHREE Records, which will feature one exclusive track by each artist as well as one collaborative track. The tracks on that one:
